How we helped launch the UK’s most advanced mobility scooter
In 2016, we were asked by a supplier of mobility scooters to produce a way to advertise a truly astonishing product – the world’s first “off-road” mobility scooter. The German manufacturers were looking for a distributor in the UK, and our client, Grove Mobility, had the contract.
All of the existing marketing material was in German. We simply had to start from scratch. But Grove Mobility wanted to start with a YouTube video and some leaflets, which could be repurposed into website content for a microsite.
First we needed to do some filming. We took a couple of the team down to Chalkwell Beach and, simply, kept the cameras rolling. It was one of the shortest days of the year, and bitterly cold. We were losing daylight fast, but just kept filming. My client was a fan of “Top Gear” and visualised his team member as “The Stig”. Copyright was obviously a problem here, so we kept similarities to a minimum.
The film starts with a compelling hook to grab audience’s attention immediately.
The video starts by showcasing its unique features and benefits, using a dramatic frame hold as the scooter mounts a steep kerb, demonstrating its efficacy. This was a scooter like no other seen before – the Germans were keen on advertising it as an off-road scooter, so we decided to do some stunts on the beach. The owner’s beloved dog Alfie featured too – we decided to include a subplot about the old dog wanting to go out and getting a great day out.
The video reflects the brand’s personality and values – honesty and reliability. It ends with a strong call to action, encouraging viewers to learn more or make a purchase.
A well-crafted product launch video can create excitement and drive interest in your new offering.
